Hand written on a note card, given to me by Barbara Magsig. Recipe is exactly as it appears on the note card including misspellings.
1/2 lb ground beef
1 onion
1 green pepper
2 cubs celery
1 can tomatoes
1/2 T chili powder
1 can cream corn
2/3 cup sliced stuffed olives
2 cups grated cheddar cheese
2 cups noodles
salt + pepper
Cook beef, onion + pepper together till beef is brown. Add celery, tomatoes + cook 10 min. Add chili powder, stuffed olives + corn. Put cooked noodles in bottom of baking dish. Add hot mixture over noodles. Add cheddar cheese on top. Bake 350°F for 1 hr.
300g mixed ground beef and pork
1 onion
-no green pepper
approx 1 1/2 - 2 cups chopped celery
2 diced fresh tomatoes
approx 1 T paprika (powder)
approx 1/8 t cayenne pepper (powder)
1 can regular corn
1 can kidney beans (drained)
approx 2/3 cup crumbled cheddar
2 cups whole wheat noodles
And I cooked it pretty much just like it said to. It turned out really well. Why the modifications: Jens picked up the wrong meat, which is fine it works. We forgot to get a green pepper so that was out. Why bother with canned tomatoes when we have fresh ones in the fridge? We, uh, forgot that we didn't have chili powder, so I subbed paprika and cayenne. You can't find cream corn around here, so we subbed regular corn. Jens hates olives, subbing kidney beans was my idea. And we used less than the desired amount of cheddar because 1) we were happy to have found ANY, and 2) it's a bit pricey so we only bought one package (it was sliced so I just crumbled it). And whole wheat noodles are all we eat, so there you go.
