Thursday May 10th

I picked mom up from the Airport at 12:15. We snagged some McD's Chicken Selects on the way home. Got in, ate, mom unpacked a bit, we went over to see my in-laws and had tea/coffee and cake and cookies. Mom did more unpacking and went to bed at 7pm.

Friday May 11th

We stayed in and hung out, a nice easy day for her to adjust to the time difference. We also worked on sewing the stripes on Min's skunk and played Clue.

Saturday May 12th

We went to Kriebstein and the Medieval fair thing they were having. Looked all around the castle, and ate German Medieval fair food (it was pretty good). We also perused the little stands and the castle's gift shop. I got a little jingling jester key chain to hang on my purse! (It broke almost immediately but mom said she could fix it.) On the way home we stopped for ice cream and to pick up flowers for Mother's Day.

Sunday May 13th

We took my mom and in-laws out to the Prinz Albert on Mother's day.

Monday May 14th

Mom and I cleaned my room. I mean we CLEANED it. We reorganized the wardrobe, dusted, washed mirrors and windows, cleaned the Frog corner, vacuumed, put clothes that don't fit me in the attic ... this was HOURS of work. We finished up around 8 or 9 at night.

Tuesday May 15th

Started some laundry. We hit the yarn shop and I got a parking ticket. And then we drove up to Dresden and hit Ikea and some other shops, had dinner at Chicago's, had a lot of fun and a lot of shopping. We came home and hung out, watched Day After Tomorrow, Benny and Joon, and started Return of the King. There was a thunder storm. The power went out, we laughed at Frog trying to hide under the bed (all he could fit under there was his head). Then we played Go Fish with my MIL by candle light until almost midnight and we were all about to fall asleep.

Wednesday May 16th

Mom and I decided that after Jens went to work we'd head over to the castle at Nossen and Kloster Altzella. We headed over, found no parking that wasn't either one hour or half an hour only. Drove past the castle 4 times. Gave up and went shopping. We got a couple of shirts for me and a bunch of stuff for mom to take back to peeps. It was a lot of fun. Hit McD's for sundaes and went home.

Thursday May 17th

As this was a holiday Jens was off and we tried Nossen again. Signs don't apply on holidays I guess and we parked in one hour parking for several hours. We explored the castle, hit the gift shop and then went to Kloster Altzella. Explored the ruins, toured the museum, even went in the big crypt thing (shudder) where folks could go down and look at the boxes holding people's bones.

Friday May 18th

We made reservations at a fancy hotel in Dresden (Mercure Newa). Super expensive, no breakfast, no free parking, but the rooms rocked. Went up, checked in, took the tram over to the Aldstadt to check prices on the boat trips and stroll around. We strolled around the Frauenkirche, the Procession of Princes, and went in the old fortifications that made up the city wall and gates and stuff under the Bruhl's (sp) Terrace, had a nifty audio tour. Then we hit Ayer's Rock for dinner mom had a crocodile steak and Jens and I got the 2 person sampler jobbie of kangaroo, ostritch, and crocodile. All of them were really really good. Did a little shopping on the way back to the hotel, picked up more gifts, snagged some drinks for the room and pastries for breakfast. Then we went back to the hotel and we crashed.

Saturday May 19th

Got up and went to mom's room for breakfast. Checked out of the hotel and loaded up the car. Found parking within walking distance of the boats and got in line for tickets. The one we wanted (10am) sold out while we were in line so we got the next one that was leaving at 12. while we were waiting we went to the Verkehr's (sp) Museum and looked at all the old trains and trams, and cars and planes. All kinds of cool stuff. Then we went and got on the boat. We had a lovely lunch on board and then got off at Pillnitz. We strolled over as much of Pillnitz as we could before our boat back at 4:45, hit the museum inside, saw the highlights of the gardens, grabbed ice cream and of course hit the giftshop. Loads of fun. :-) We were all wiped so we decided to go home. Had dinner at the Landstreicher.

Sunday May 20th

Recovery day from the Dresden/Pillnitz trip. More sewing, and hanging out. Also laundry. We planned to go to Dresden and see the Zwinger again (it's mom' favorite place) and go to the Porcelain museum inside it (the only museum inside we haven't yet seen) and stroll around on Monday. We grilled out with my in-laws for dinner.

Monday May 21st

Mom decided she didn't really want to go back to Dresden to save wear and tear on the car plus she just wanted to hang out. So we decided to take some tomato plants to Jens' Aunt Ursula and then hit the wooden toy shop at Borstendorf. The car wouldn't start, so we took the dog on a walk. By the time we got home my FIL had looked at the car and said all it had needed was for me to turn the steering wheel. Who knew?! So we drove to Borstendorf, shopped, got a few things from the store and came home. Then I ran down and got some Döner for lunch and brought it back up to the house. Much hanging out, and laundry, packing, and online shopping. Then we grilled with the in-laws again!

Tuesday May 22nd

We did more laundry, drove in to Chemnitz and shopped. We found a fat chicks store (effing finally!) and mom bought me a really cute outfit that was entirely too expensive. Apparently fat people need to be rich in Germany. Jens joined us once he got off work (he works outside of Chemnitz) and we had a late lunch at Burger King. Then there was grocery shopping and going home. I made my famous Bacon Cheeseburger Meatloaf for dinner. Then we played more board games and card games.

Wednesday May 23rd

I made waffles for breakfast. Helped mom finish up packing. I have a bunch of stuff to mail back to her since she had no room for it in her bags. <.< >.> We may have done a bit much shopping. Took mom to the airport and we hung out before she went through security, ate some sammiches and pastries. Then hung out a few minutes more through a glass wall between the gate area and some bathrooms. I saw her get on her plane (I think) and saw her take off.

There was more sewing any laundry done than I have written down here, and mom spoiled the Frog rotten. He was waiting for her to come home on Wednesday. Poor little Froggie.

I've been in a bit of a funk since she left, but watching my Gilmore Girls really helps. (Shut up! It does!)

Oh and my Thyroid stuff, came back fine, I have low cholesterol, blood sugar is great, blood pressure is fine, the doctor said I need to stop eating sweets and fatty foods and go do a lot of exercising. So gods only know why I lost nothing on the 1800 calorie diet.

And I was cleaning and killing ants like crazy yesterday, they invaded the kitchen. Now that we have put out ant traps they have all vanished. We paid for the stuff that they take home and kills the whole lot of them, bastards better come back and take the bait.

That is all. I will now tend to laundry, find something low fat/sugar/calorie for lunch and watch some more Gilmore Girls. I'm washing up the dirty clothes mom left and I still haven't hunted for the bigger box needed to mail it off. Lost my will to be super industrious when I found the letter mom left for me in the guest room I am now teary eyed and all that again. Mailing might take place tomorrow.
