We went to Anelia's for lunch today and had a great time. We got there a bit early, about 15 minutes before 1. This is not really something that Germans do, ON TIME is how it's done over here, but it seemed weirder to sit in the car in plain view for 15 minutes so we went in and apologized for being early.
Anelia made a Bulgarian meal, Musaka, for us. Which was really effing good. And then we went to chill in the living room. We played Mensch ärgere mich nicht, which is kind of like the game Sorry, and a few rounds of Mau-Mau. Then she served the cakes she made, which were kind of like jelly rolls and very good, with coffee and tea. And then we looked at pictures. And then, since it was after 4pm we headed home.
I'm going to see when they want to come over again, it's so much fun hanging out, even if we sometimes have trouble communicating. Jens and Sven, though, have no trouble chatting. They carried on for ages about cell phones and DSL.
I need to look at my recipes and see what other good American foods I want to serve, Anelia and I have sort of a recipe exchange going on. I may put a poll up here once I get a few options in mind.
