Everything is fine!

The day before yesterday Sam wasn't moving around an awful lot. Yesterday morning he wasn't doing a lot either. I didn't think anything of it, really. I figured he was just facing inwards and kicking my internal organs.
Then I stopped feeling anything from him around 11:30am/12pm. I still didn't figure much was up until around 8pm when I still hadn't felt anything. So, I tried to play 'Annoy the Baby', which consists of rubbing my belly until he gets sick of it and kicks. This got no response. So I started poking and pushing on my belly and even got one of the TV remotes to use like an ultrasound wand, he really hates the ultrasound wand. No dice.
This was cause for some concern. So we called up the doctor. The one time I'm expecting to hear, "It's normal, don't worry about it", I get "You should go to the hospital. It's probably fine but you need to check." Cue the panic. "You should go to the hospital", are the very last words I want to hear come out of a doctor's mouth.
Jens told my FIL as we were heading out the door, of course my FIL was scoffing about it being a needless trip. Jens said he hoped so. I thought I felt a small twitch on the way there but we decided that wasn't enough and wanted to be SURE he was fine.
At the hospital the doc had called ahead so they'd be expecting us. We got taken right in to a machine to check his heartbeat. His heart was doing just fine, and we could hear him move even though I couldn't feel most of the movements. He did give me 2 or 3 good kicks while I was lying down. I swear, pregnancy is the only time you're happy to have your child kick you in the stomach.
After they had monitored him for awhile and Jens and I were feeling 654187416% better, we went down stairs to the very nice doctor with the ultrasound machine. She had a look, and everything is looking great, perfectly normal. Well, except for the fact that he's measuring 2 weeks larger than he's supposed to. She strongly recommended that my doc give me a blood sugar test, and wrote him a note.
That was our night! I have never been so happy to take an unnecessary trip to a hospital! :-D
